Bhavin Patel

Bhavin (BA, LlB (Hons)) has two decades’ experience across the legal, technology, and education sectors. He has been part of the founding team of start-ups that provided services to the legal industry (LST, Rainmaker, Bayside Tech) and is now focusing on Lawyers Learn.

He also led the team that conceptualised, designed, and delivered India’s first All India Bar Examination, and has worked in the field of test design and delivery as a consultant with NLSIU and the Consortium of National Law Universities.

Bhavin has experience teaching at the pre-law, law, and post-qualification stages in online and in-person formats, primarily in the areas of legal reasoning, writing, and research, law and technology, as well as introductory courses on various legal systems of the world. Bhavin has delivered guest lectures at the Jindal Global Law School, and has delivered a ‘Law and Technology’ bootcamp for the Daksha Fellowship programme. He is engaged with various programmes and courses of the Distance Education Department, NLSIU as a visiting faculty, and has acted as a consultant on several strategic matters for the Distance Education Department, NLSIU.

Jonathan Walton

Jonathan (BA, MA Oxon) is an educator, technologist and linguist with twenty-two years’ experience across media, broadcasting, and e-learning. As an online private tutor at college level, he specialises in teaching study skills and innovative methods for organising and retaining information.

His methods are outcome-oriented, student-centred and focussed on practical application. As founder and CEO of Tonguesten, his start-up pioneered the use of computational linguistics to create individualised learning materials out of YouTube content. Frustrated by his inability to talk tech fluently, he studied programming from the ground up: attending courses, hackathons and building prototypes. He is part of the core operational team at X- System (University of Edinburgh), who use machine learning to model the innate neurophysiological response to music.

Jonathan teaches the technology component of the Lawyers Learn Technology Programme.

Khushboo Jalan

Khushboo (MA in Audio Visual Communication, BSc (Hons) in Economics) has 12 years’ experience in broadcast journalism. She worked in CNBC-TV18 from 2007-2014 as an Associate News Editor. She managed the editorial team responsible for content creation and production. She also produced the channel’s flagships shows - India Business Hour and Markets Today. After working in her family business for a year-and-a-half, she re-joined CNBC-TV18 in 2016 as Deputy Editor - Digital Desk. She was responsible for the news-driven content on the channel’s social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Her responsibilities included producing original content, curating selections from television news, sub-editing, ideating with different teams (reporting, editorial, marketing etc.), planning digital coverage for high-profile news events, and promoting the channel’s shows and digital properties.

Khushboo has also worked as a video editor for National Law School of India University’s (NLSIU) Foundations for a Legal Education (FLE) programme and handled the social media content creation, posting, marketing and management for NLSIU’s Distance Education Department (DED) 2021 enrolment cycle.

Khushboo manages academic operations, and oversees content production at Bayside Tech.

Ashwini Batrahalli

Founder and tech brain of the team. She is powered by coffee, revels in jazz, and reads futuristic sci-fi written in a distant past. Ashwini holds a Master’s degree in CS from NCSU, Raleigh. Most recently, she worked on storage as an R&D Engineer with Samsung.

Sweta Jalan

Sweta is a Commerce Honours graduate and holds a Masters in Computer Application. She has 6 years experience in Training, Documentation and Instructional Design in the information technology industry, having worked with Dendrite Software India Private Limited and MphasiS.

Sweta was responsible for technology product development at Rainmaker, and oversaw the development of Casedate, India's first automated litigation tracking and management tool, and the first version of myLaw.net, Rainmaker's proprietary learning management system.

Sweta manages accounts and finances at Bayside Tech.

Utpal Siddhartha

Utpal is a media professional with over a decade's experience in the business news industry. He is an alum of the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai, and Delhi College of Arts & Commerce, Delhi University.

In his last professional engagement before Bayside as Deputy News Editor at CNBC-TV18, he was responsible for co-managing the editorial team for evening programming. He was involved in finalising the structure of news bulletins, writing headlines and other stories, checking copy prepared by writers, and overseeing the design of visual elements. He played a leading role in the selection and curation of content from evening programming for propagation on social media platforms.

Prior to his decade-long stint at CNBC-TV18, Utpal had also worked with NDTV Profit as an Associate Output Editor on the news desk and with BTVi (formerly UTVi) as an Assistant Producer in the production team.

Utpal was also one of the top performing students of the 2008 batch of the PG Diploma in Journalism (TV) at the Asian College of Journalism. He was awarded the Dean’s Prize for Outstanding Performance in the Politics Elective.
